Moving your tree from Ancestry.com to Reunion

Many Reunion users are also Ancestry.com users who either switched to Reunion or use Ancestry.com and Reunion simultaneously.

To bring your data from Ancestry.com into Reunion 11, follow the steps below. We suggest you bookmark this page and refer to it while transferring your data.

  1. Download your data as a GEDCOM file from Ancestry.com. Ancestry has step-by-step instructions for downloading a GEDCOM file, at this web page.
  2. After the GEDCOM file is saved onto your Desktop, drag the GEDCOM file (the file ending in .ged) and drop it onto the Reunion 11 application icon, which is inside your Applications folder or in your Dock.
  3. Use the GEDCOM Import window in Reunion as needed (to set up custom fields, etc.). See the Reunion 11 user guide for more details.
