Version 7 Maintenance Update Details

Reunion 7.05

(The first four items fix problems accidentally introduced in version 7.03.)

  • Fixed a link problem for children on HTML person sheets.
  • Improved the wrapping of consecutive citations in notes on-screen.
  • Re-applied the user-defined font to the Find and Find Anything windows.
  • Fixed a crash situation when displaying large amounts of notes on the family card when the family card window was maximized to full screen in 1024x768 resolution.
  • Options -> Web; Cover Page: now stores the Graphic image as a relative path with respect to the Reunion application.
  • Options -> Web; Contact: enlarged the text field for Mailing Address to accomodate two lines of a 12 point user-defined font.
  • Added a shortcut in the Multimedia window to change the name or location of a file by Option-clicking the Open Item button.
  • Closing the File -> Delete People window will properly update the marked person count at the bottom of the family card.
  • Fixed some cases where File -> Move Delete Fields would lose data when moving note fields.

Reunion 7.04

(The first four items fix problems accidentally introduced in version 7.03.)

  • Fixed a file path problem in HTML files that kept images and backgrounds from appearing in web projects.
  • Fixed editable text fields and lists to properly support "Data Entry" fonts defined in the Options -> Fonts window.
  • Fixed a text formatting problem in the Edit -> Source window under the Preview tab.
  • Fixed the default selection of events and facts for newly added people in the Edit -> Person window.
  • Fixed a glitch that caused the drag rectangle to be the wrong size when dragging list entries out of the list in the Multimedia window.

Reunion 7.03

  • If the name of a folder containing the Reunion 7 Manual contained '/' or '#' characters, manual pages would not appear.
  • If an application modal window is open, a file can no longer be double clicked and opened from the Finder. Reunion will simply move to the front and beep.
  • Family notes have been returned to the Layout windows for the Register and family history report.
  • In the family history report, address information will be reported for single people if the address was saved in the Family tab.
  • When reporting family group sheets to HTML, the correct link will be used when children of children appear on each sheet.
  • To reduce problems with extended characters, RTF reports now export extended ASCII characters in numeric form
  • When reporting a log, the proper application will open.
  • When adding a new parent to a person, Reunion will navigate to the new parent's family card.
  • When printing and copying family cards, people with multiple parents no longer show the first set of parents rather than the preferred parents.
  • Fixed an odd problem where clicking on some fields on the family card would open the Edit Person window with the cursor in the wrong field.
  • Source citations for "Unmarried" on the family card are now displayed.
  • The Multimedia window is now refreshed after specifying the location of a missing multimedia file.
  • Fixed a problem in the Multimedia memo field that could cause text color and style changes to be lost.
  • Fixed a problem where multimedia items would not appear on Web Media Pages when a flat web project was created.
  • Fixed the function that automatically adds paths to the Multimedia Options window so that redundant paths are not added.
  • Increased the limit of the picture description field to 255 (from 60).
  • Initial Caps will not consider smart quotes the first letter of a word.
  • When double clicking notes fields to select words, enclosing characters (such as quotes and parenthesis) will not be considered part of the word.
  • Fixed a citation/detail update glitch when choosing CMD-A to select all text in a note field.
  • Changed the manner in which the first line of text in a note field is selected when dragging upward.
  • Fixed a case where notes containing citations with long details would appear truncated on the family card view.
  • When exporting Gedcom files and the Indicate Sex button is unchecked in the Options -> Reports [Privacy Filter] window, the SEX tag will not be exported for private individuals.
  • When importing Gedcom files, the NAMM tag is interpreted as the Married Name field.
  • When exporting Gedcom files, NPFX and NSFX will be exported as level 2.
  • When deleting source fields from the Define Source Fields window, a check was added to see if a source field is being used. If the field is used somewhere, a warning dialog will appear before deleting the source field.
  • Fixed a case where a black vertical bar would appear to the left of the Last Name field in the Edit Person window.
  • Reduced the maximum width for the List Sources window.
  • Made subtle changes to the size limitations of the Edit Person and Edit Family windows.
  • Source citations in Note fields separated only by return characters no longer have a comma added between them in reports (i.e., the first character on the second line is no longer a comma).
  • Fixed some cases where double spaces could precede citations in reports.
  • Fixed a glitch that was causing source citations to get deleted from a Note field if the source citation was at the very end of the field.
  • Using the "mh" and "mw" letter-key shortcuts properly update the marked person count in the status bar.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause changes made to the Files tab in the Web Options window to be lost. Also fixed an obscure problem that could cause a crash in Web Options window.
  • Fixed a cosmetic problem where displaying the "Age at First Child" in a list would alter the appearance of fields in columns to the right for any one person.
  • When clicking the Sort Events button in the Edit Person window, the selected event will now remain selected.
  • Find Anything, People Tab: fixed searches in the Marriage Status field.
  • Fixed a bug when deleting Marked people that could leave a family card with unlinked, "Unnamed" child buttons.
  • Fixed a crash that would occur when closing the Date Options window.
  • Fixed a possible crash when adding a new source field in the Define Source Fields window.
  • Changed the e-manual link for the Picture Description window.
  • When dragging objects in charts, sometimes the drag image would appear as a transparent white box. This would always happen on a second monitor and under certain conditions on single monitor systems.
  • Fixed a case where closing a chart would not remove its name from the Window menu.
  • When dragging text in charts, sometimes the text in the drag image would be truncated.
  • Chart boxes can now hold more than 500 characters.
  • Fixed some oddities when attempting to save a locked chart file.
  • In the Colors window (for tree charts), the sample box border now works properly.
  • The text in the bottom left of chart windows is now properly updated after jumping to the source person using the Command-H keyboard shortcut.
  • Fixed the Command-H keyboard shortcut (show source person) in Relative charts.
  • Fixed some anomalies when using clicking the Add Box button in charts.
  • Fixed the color palette in the Timeline -> Perspectives -> Edit All window.
  • Fixed the Timeline -> Shadow Depth menu command.

Reunion 7.02

  • Fixed a potential freeze when a Speed Name (place name or last name) was added. This problem was most likely to appear after upgrading a family file from version 6 where the family file contained a Speed Name list with the maximum number of entries (250, in version 6). Most commonly, users would experience a system freeze when entering a name or event.
  • Fixed some memory management troubles when creating clones and compact copies of family files.
  • Find Anything: Couples tab now properly searches the Marriage Memo field.
  • Find Anything: Now finds text that is formatted with colors and styles.
  • Find Anything: Couples tab no longer gives the wrong operators when searching for "# of Child Statuses."
  • Web Media Pages: fixed some cases where a family web media page would not properly link to a person's web media page and vice versa.
  • Changed the reporting of Notes and Memos: in cases where the entire field content is within sensitivity braces, no field title will be included in the report.
  • Fixed a problem reporting event memos in the family history report. When Include Memo Field was checked in the report layout, empty memos may have been reported and valid memos may have been ignored.
  • Family Group Sheet questionnaire: now properly reports the marriage information for children.
  • Fixed a possible crash when creating the index for reports.
  • Fixed a possible crash when reporting the memo field for Register and Ahnentafel reports.
  • Cascading Pedigree will no longer show any marriage information if both the husband and wife are not present or included in the report.
  • Timeline charts: Now updates the timeline display after using the Timeline -> Fonts window.
  • Relative charts: Fixed a problem in the Hourglass layout that was causing the wrong people to be excluded from the chart and in some cases no chart would be created at all.
  • Disabled the Create -> Fan Chart menu command when no fan chart can be created.
  • Fan charts: The Undo buffer is now cleared after making changes in the Fan Settings window.
  • Fan charts: Fixed a possible crash when formatting fan charts containing valid cells with no name text.
  • Hairlines and half point lines in charts no longer look fat when a chart is zoomed out.
  • Hairlines and half point lines used to connect boxes are now properly drawn.
  • Fixed a misleading error message that would occur when creating relative charts containing more than 32 thousand people.
  • Fixed a problem when copying and pasting formatted text to and from a notes field.
  • Fixed a problem with wrapping text in notes fields containing source citations at the end of a line.
  • Find -> Match Merge: the marked person count in the status bar is now properly maintained.
  • After linking a source person to an existing father or mother, Reunion will stay on the current family card (as in version 6).
  • Age calculations will be left blank for negative date spans.
  • When more than 20 children were on a family card, the 21st child and beyond would be excluded from relationship calculations.
  • Fixed a screen refresh problem on the family card when the defined picture size was tall enough to cause an empty gap above the little status bar.
  • Removed the message "There are no matches" from the startup calendar function if no entries are found when opening a family file.
  • Added an appropriate error message when attempting to run Reunion 7 on a 68K Mac.

Reunion 7.01

  • Changed the search results heading in the manual to read: "Results: Reunion 7 Manual Search."
  • Hebrew/Secular date conversions (*h and *s) now work as they did in version 6. The asterisk '*' is no longer considered punctuation.
  • Date Feasibility report didn't open in a word processor
  • Saving charts as JPEG files...
    • Will now ignore the current zoom setting, it should always save as 1:1.
    • Will jump up to 16-bit color if picture objects are present, otherwise 8-bit color will be used (requiring much less memory).
  • Added a better explanation to the QuickTime message that appears when attempting to open a supported graphics file that QuickTime can't read.
  • Added better contact information to the "Missing Manual Page" message.
  • Shrank the About window and added a Contact Info button that will jump to the support page in the manual.
  • Fixed a crash when opening the Multimedia window by clicking on a single female's picture on the family card.
  • If user had entries on the QuickBar and ran File -> Repair, the log would report that the file size was off. This was because the QuickBar was being ignored when calculating the family file size. Fixed the QuickBar data in the family file so that Repair would account for it.
  • The user's settings in the Internet control panel are now utilized when a "mailto" link is clicked in the manual. This will open the user's choice for e-mail application when using Mac OS 8.5 or newer. Otherwise a "Use your e-mail software..." message will appear.
