Version 7 Problems & Conflicts

This page contains known or reported problems and conflicts with Reunion 7.
Updated 8/30/02.

Note: Be sure to download and read about our latest maintenance update for a list of problems that have been fixed.

Titles are alphabetized, however, new or updated items appear at the top of the section.

AppleWorks 6.2 (or 6.1.2) reports not opening - This problem was fixed, by Apple, in AppleWorks 6.2.4 (also 6.2.3).

The AppleWorks 6.2 update installer automatically senses which version of the Mac OS you're running. If you use Mac OS X, AppleWorks 6.2 is installed. If you use Mac OS 8.1-9.1, AppleWorks 6.1.2 is installed.

Unfortunately, when AppleWorks 6.1.2 is installed, a defective RTF translator is also installed. This new RTF translator will not open most of Reunion's reports.

As you know, Reunion creates textual reports by saving them to your hard disk as RTF files and then sending an AppleScript to open the report in your word processor. AppleWorks 6.1.2 begins to convert Reunion's RTF report file but never finishes (a spinning cursor appears and the report never opens). You'll have to press Command-Option-esc to "force quit" AppleWorks.

To correct this problem, you should download the latest update, AppleWorks 6.2.8.

AppleWorks 6 not displaying reports correctly - This problem was fixed, by Apple, in AppleWorks 6.0.4.

The initial release of AppleWorks 6 did not import RTF files. Surprisingly, Apple removed that functionality from the upgrade. Specifically, AppleWorks 6 did not install an RTF (Rich Text Format) translator -- previous versions of AppleWorks and ClarisWorks did.

When Reunion creates a report it saves an RTF file to your hard disk and attempts to open it in your word processor. Since AppleWorks 6 did not have an RTF translator, it would open the report as a plain TEXT file, thus improperly displaying the report.

To correct this problem, we used to suggest downloading the AppleWorks 6.0.4 update. The 6.0.4 update adds RTF translation. However, we now suggest downloading the AppleWorks 6.2.8 update.

ixVIEW Video Control Software

This software ( ixVIEW Video Control Software) conflicts with Reunion to create a crash.

Adding a source field - This problem was fixed in maintenance update 7.05.

If you're running MacOS 9, you will experience a freeze when you click the Add button in the Define Source Fields window.

Log Report - This problem was fixed in maintenance update 7.05.

Clicking the Report button in the Log window saves the report to your hard drive, but the report is not automatically opened in your word processor.

Changing date formats - This problem was fixed in maintenance update 7.05.

If you're running OS 7.6 or 8.1, a crash will occur when you choose Options -> Dates and click Cancel or Save. To prevent Reunion from crashing, choose Options -> Dates, change the date format, and then click the Feasibility Checking tab before you click Save. We plan to fix this in a maintenance update.

Apollo - This problem was fixed by Jeremy in version 2.3.1b3. Contact him if you need the updated version.

Apollo is a shareware, menu-based launching utility by Jeremy Roussak. When Apollo is running, it causes Reunion to crash when you attempt to open charts or reports. To avoid the crash, you must use Extensions Manager to disable the Apollo extension, restart your computer, and then create the chart or report.
